So when she learned she was pregnant with her second child, she immediately sought the services of a midwife in Saskatoon to deliver her child at home and have a more personal experience throughout her pregnancy.

The Saskatoon Health region has five registered midwives, and due to the demand for their services they are not able to accept clients outside of the region.
"I wanted to be in my own environment. Birth is a natural, family event and I wanted my family there," said McCaskill, who was one of several women who gathered at the legislature on Wednesday to support expansion of midwifery in Saskatchewan.
